摘要 PURPOSE:To improve the amount of light emitted from a light emitting semiconductor element in comparison with a conventional element, by constituting the device by a semispherical first lens part, whose center is a point on a line passing the element, and a doughnut-shaped second lens part, which is provided at said first lens part as a unitary body. CONSTITUTION:A light emitting diode 11 as a light emitting semiconductor element is sealed by an outer container 12 comprising, e.g., an epoxy resin. The tip part of the outer container 12 is a lens 13, which comprises a semispherical first lens part 13a having a radius of R and a doughnut-shaped second lens part 13b that is provided at the outer surface of the lens part 13a, so as to form a unitary body together with the lens part 13a. The second lens part 13b if formed by combining balls having a radus R', with a point separated from a point O by a specifed distance being the center. Terefore, the amount of light emitted from the pellet 11 through the lens 13 is strikingly improved in comparison with a conventional element.
