A device for endoscopic papillotomy comprises a gripping piece (10) and a flexible catheter tube (12) connected thereto in which a flexible needle (14) and a cutting wire (18) are guided so as to be axially displaceable, the needle (14) passing through a bore inside the gripping piece (10) and being connected with an actuation element (54), and the cutting wire (18) being guided out of the catheter tube (12) at a predetermined distance from the free end thereof and being fastened with its end remote from the gripping piece (10) on the free end of the catheter tube (12). The cutting wire (18) is fastened with its end near the gripping piece (10) on a stop (22) lying in the displacement path of the needle (14), whereas a carrier (24) is arranged on the needle (14) in the region between the stop (22) and the free tube end, such that it comes to rest against the stop (22) on retraction of the needle tip into the catheter tube (12). <IMAGE>
