The monoazo compounds of the formula I <IMAGE> in which R1 denotes hydrogen, chlorine or bromine, R2 denotes hydrogen, chlorine, bromine or nitro, R3 denotes hydrogen, chlorine, bromine, nitro or thiocyanato, R4 denotes hydrogen, chlorine or bromine, R5 denotes hydrogen, methyl or ethyl and R6 denotes C8-14-alkyl, in which at least one of R1, R3 and R4 has a meaning which is different from hydrogen; only one of R2 and R3 denotes nitro; if R3 is thiocyanato, R2 does not denote nitro, and if the molecule carries more than one chlorine or bromine atom, one of them is attached in the 6 position (R3), are outstandingly suitable as disperse dyes for dyeing hydrophobic fibre material.
