Tightener for spoked wheels

A diagram is given of a spoke tightener (1) which comprises two parts, a handle (3) and a spanner part (7). The handle and spanner part grip around each other. The spanner part has an opening (5) having a lateral slot (6) through which the spoke is introduced into the spanner part. In this process, the spanner part is received in a pocket (8) on the edge of the handle (3). As an extension of the opening (5) of the spanner part inserted into the pocket (8) in the handle a groove (25) is formed in the handle (3), in which the spoke lies while being tightened. The groove (25) centres the spoke for the opening (5) in the spanner part (7). The handle (3) is preferably made of plastic whereas the spanner part (7) is made of steel. <IMAGE>
