A synchronisation system for colour television signals in accordance with the NTSC or the PAL standard is proposed. In this system, the synchronisation signals of a reference signal source are matched to the synchronisation signals of a first outputting magnetic tape device by means of a synchronisation signal adapter circuit, for joining the colour video signals, coded in accordance with one of the two standards, together in the correct phase during the storage on magnetic tape, and the video signals from the first magnetic tape device are matched in horizontal and vertical direction to the phase of a second recording magnetic tape device by means of a digital synchroniser known per se. The system enables editing of any field of a sequence to any other one of this sequence because the circuit specified is capable of transforming any field of an 8-V sequence into any other one.
