PURPOSE:To increase separating speed and to improve the purity of a separated component by applying a magnetic field to a treating soln. in the stage of separating and refining a metal by an ion exchange or solvent extraction. CONSTITUTION:The component contained in the metal is refined and separated by the wet process column method based on the ion exchange or solvent extraction method. The magnetic field is passed through a rare earth soln. and sonics are applied thereto to, then an electric field is acted in the case of, for example, passing the soln. through a column packed therein with an ion exchange resin or prior to the passage through the column. The magnetic field which is made stronger than normally used is applied thereto. The separating speed can be increased by about 3-10 times by applying the sonics and magnetic field in the above-mentioned manner. The separating effect can be improved by applying the magnetic field or the magnetic field and sonics to an extraction solvent in the treatment by the solvent extraction method. The other effect lies in the improvement in the purity of the separated component. |
