In a process for lining a trough-like launder for steel casting installations, in particular continuous casting installations, with a seamless wearing layer, a trough extending in front of a permanent lining at a distance corresponding to the thickness of the wearing layer is placed on the launder and the cavity formed between the trough and the permanent lining is filled with a viscous compound which forms the wearing layer.
