Protective helmet (1) consisting of a plastic shell (2), with an opening closed or closable by a window plate (4) in the front region and a slip-on opening (6) in the lower region whereby the gap (X) in the slip-on opening (6) between the lower cage of the helmet shell (2) and the user's chin which exists when the helm (1) is clapped or can be closed by means of a diaphragm (8). The diaphragm (8), which is attached at least in the front region of the lower edge of the helmet shell, is of a pliable material.
