The invention relates to a process for dewatering moist material by means of a roller press and to equipment required for carrying out the process. In a known roller press, complicated and expensive additional units such as pumps and a pressure tank are required. The known equipment is, however, unsuitable for the dewatering of non-pumpable moist material, in particular wet bulk materials. The invention allows simple and uncomplicated dewatering of moist material in such a way that the latter is introduced from above into the roller nip, compacted and/or comminuted as well as dewatered therein, the dewatered material being taken off downwards and, separately from this, the expelled water being discharged towards the side in the longitudinal direction of the roller nip. In the roller press according to the invention, partitions (20) which project into the roller nip are arranged in the shaft (12) for charging the material. Below the partitions (20), water-receiving funnels (14) are located, which project from below into the roller nip and have discharge pipes (15). <IMAGE>
