PURPOSE:To improve the durability of an engine by providing a fresh water in the casing of a drive unit for engine cooling by using fresh water cooled in the said cooler. CONSTITUTION:A sea chest 11 is provided on the side wall of the lower casing 2 of a drive unit casing 1, so that sea water can be sucked into the casing 1 by the function of a sea water suction pump 10 at the intermediate part of a drive shaft 7. A fresh water cooler 12 is provided under an engine 5, striding over the upper casing 2 of the casing 1 and an engine mount 4, and cooling water for the engine 5 is circulated by a cooling water pump 13 driven by the rotation of a crankshaft 8 via a belt 16 or the like. In the fresh water cooler 12, engine cooling water is cooled by sea water sucked through the suction pump 10 and this sea water is thereafter discharged overboard. |
