The invention relates to an anchor bolt having a cylindrical bolt body which exhibits, at its front end, a tapering with a cylindrical portion, which tapering forms a shoulder towards the bolt body and, towards the front end, runs into a conically widening expanding cone. An expanding sleeve provided with a longitudinal slot encloses the cylindrical portion, can be expanded by axial displacement up to a collar terminating the expanding cone and can be anchored in a blind hole by means of anchoring parts projecting radially on the periphery. By special design of the expanding sleeve and of the shoulder between the bolt body and the cylindrical portion, the production of the expanding sleeve is simplified and its support on the shoulder when being driven into the blind hole is improved, without a sharp edge with a tendency to fracture being obtained at this point.
