PURPOSE:To reduce a turning radius of a front cover and a rear cover during a cover opening by entering an upper plate section of the front cover inside a recessed section of the rear cover, approaching the front cover to the rear cover vertically to superimpose thereon. CONSTITUTION:A rear cover 34 is turnably pivoted to a front cover 14 through a turning fulcrum 35 and an upper cover section 41 is integrally provided from the fulcrum 35 upward. Between the fulcrum 35 and the upper cover section, a recessed section 53 is disposed. In a cover closing condition, a whole periphery of a tape is surrounded by the front cover 14 and a rear cover 31 and the upper cover section 41. An upper surface opening 13 disposed on an upper surface wall 12 of a cassette casing is covered by the upper cover section 41. In an opening condition of the cover, the front cover 14, the rear cover 34 and the upper cover section 41 turn from the opening 13 onto the upper surface wall 12 of the cassette casing and the front cover 14 is approached to the rear cover 34 vertically and superimposed thereon so as to enter an upper plate section 31 of the front cover 14 inside the recessed section 53 of the rear cover 34. In this manner, an upper space of the cassette during mounting is reduced.
