PURPOSE:To make possible an arithmetic having a long vector length by forming an operand vector for making respective data of data sequences having variable length as a vector element and forming a partition information vector composed of elements belonging to the same data sequence thereof. CONSTITUTION:When an instruction control circuit 115 decodes a character retrieval instruction read from a main memory device 101, the start of a character tran retrieval processing is designated to an arithmetic control circuit 110. The arithmetic control circuit 110 successively reads respective elements of a vector 1007 and respective elements of a key vector 1008 from the main memory device 101, and compares them with a comparator 106. Elements of the partition information vector 1006 and fed to a discriminating circuit 105 and examines whether they are the partition of processing word trains or not. A comparing result and a judging result 107 are fed to the arithmetic control circuit 110. Based on them, the condition of the character train retrieval is examined. When a coincidence/non-coincidence of a word and a key word is clarified, to an element corresponding to a retrieval result vector 1009, 1 or 0 are respectively written and an operation to be taken next is determined and an operation indication is sent to the respective parts. |
