PURPOSE:A herbicide having high weeding effect, selectivity for some crops such as rice plants, etc., high effect with a small amount of active ingredient applied from danger of environmental pollution, comprising a pyrazolesulfonylurea derivative as an active ingredient. CONSTITUTION:A herbicide comprising a pyrazolesulfonylurea derivative shown by the formula I as an active ingredient. The active ingredient compound shown by the formula I is a novel compound, is synthesized by dissolving a pyrazolesulfonyl isocyanate derivative shown by the formula II in sufficiently dried inert solvent such as dioxane, acetonitrile, etc., and reacting it with a pyrimidine derivative shown by the formula III while stirring, to give a compound shown by the formula I. When the herbicide is applied, it is usually blended with a proper carrier, blended with an emulsifying agent, dispersant, etc., processed into a formulation such as spray, emulsion, wettable powder, etc. and used.
