PURPOSE:To discriminate the generation of a defective product and to execute casting always at a high non-defective rate by disposing a gas vent sensor to the aperture of a gas vent passage and judging that the flow rate of the gas to be released attains a prescribed value. CONSTITUTION:A molten metal 22 is poured by a ladle 24 into a sleeve 18 and the advance of a plunger 12 is started at a low speed. A limit switch 26 turns on and the plunger 12 changes over to a high speed operation when the molten metal 22 is filled in the sleeve 18. The molten metal is thus filled into a cavity 34. The point of the time when the speed of the plunger 12 is changed over from the low to high speed is set by a limit switch 26 as the reference time to detect the flow rate of the released gas by the gas vent sensor 42. The casting control to improve the non-defective rate of the product is thus realized by controlling the time since the point of the time when the plunger 12 is changed over to the high-speed advance until the flow rate of the released gas attains the reference level.
