PURPOSE:To form tracks to precise track width by extending a non-magnetic material which forms a magnetic head orthogonally or slantingly to the tape slide direction of a magnetic gap from the length in the tape slide orthogonal direction of the magnetic gap. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic gap 11 having an erasing function is so set that l/lambda, where (l) is gap length and lambda is an erasure signal frequency; and the erasure frequency is higher than the frequency of a luminance FM signal and (l) is >=1mum and normally 2-3mum. The angle of the magnetic gap 11 is 90 deg. (i.e. azimuth 0 deg.) most effectively. Namely, when the top projection parts (width t) of trapezoid surfaces 18a and 18b of auxiliary cores 12a and 12b are set at 90 deg. in a scanning direction, gap forming materials 14a and 14b can belaminated as well. Further, where the gap length (l) is 3mum, the auxiliary cores 12a and 12b are only laminated to 1.5mum on respective sides. Consequently, precise track width is obtained.
