The invention relates to a method for improved exhaust gas detoxification of a valve-operated internal-combustion engine, whose exhaust gas is fed to a convertor or catalyser after leaving the cylinder, the start of the opening of the exhaust valves of the internal-combustion engine being advanced in order to achieve more effective exhaust gas detoxification.
