PURPOSE:To shorten a time from track shifting to reproducing by making head shifting after judging identification of a video signal at a desired track position by stored signals when the track shifting operation is made. CONSTITUTION:At first, iD demodulation of an outermost peripheral track is carried out and stored in a microcomputer 11. The microcomputer 11 sends out a one track inner peripheral direction shifting command to a head shifting device 6, and demodulates an iD signal of the second track, and stores in the microcomputer 11. Thus, identification signals from iD signals of all tracks to the innermost peripheral track are stored in the microcomputer 11. At this time, as the microcomputer 11 knows that the next track is the second field when a track is regarded as a frame and the first field, the microcomputer stores the information of the second field in a memory and shifts to the next track leaving out the next track.
