PURPOSE:To simultaneously crosslink and cure paint films three-dimensionally at ambient temp. or by low temp. heating and to enhance film capacity, in a recoating system to the outer panel of a motor-car by a wet-on-wet process, by using an aqueous paint in a part of said system. CONSTITUTION:As a base coat, a paint containing water as a main solvent or a dispersing medium and prepared by compounding color pigment and metallic pigment if necessary is used. For example, this paint is classified into a system using a resin having a hydroxyl group and a carboxyl group, a system using a hydroxyl group-containing resin and a catalyst and a system using the resin of the former and the catalyst of the latter. Next, as the top coat applied to the base coat applied surface, an org. liquid paint based on a hydroxyl group-containing resin and a polyisocyanate compound is used. The recoated both paint films are cured at ambient temp. or at about 120 deg.C or less to form a paint film excellent in water resistance, interlayer adhesiveness and flocculative destruction.
