摘要 PURPOSE:To prevent CO from being discharged outside a fuel cell system by using a device for separating CO2 in a liquid electrolyte exhausted from a fuel cell and a device for absorbing a carbonyl complex of CO. CONSTITUTION:CO 33 is introduced into a CO absorber 32 and absorbed by a complexing agent in the CO absorber 32 to produce a CO-complex solution 34 which is then introduced into a fuel chamber 30. In a fuel electrode 27 in the chamber 30, the solution 34 reacts with water to produce CO2, H<+>, electrons and the complexing agent. The thus produced H<+> and electrons migrate into an air electrode 28 through a diaphragm 29 and a load 35 and react with oxygen 36 in the air electrode 28 to produce water 37. On the other hand, a gas-liquid mixture 38 composed of CO2 and the complexing agent is introduced into the separator 31. The mixture 38 introduced into the separator 31 is separated into CO2 39 which is then exhausted from the top of the separator 31 and a complexing agent 40 which is then supplied into the CO absorber 32 through the bottom of the separator 31. The complexing agent 40 reabsorbs CO 33 in the absorber 32 to produce a solution 34. By thus efficiently separating CO2 from the gas-liquid mixture 38 exhausted from the chamber 30, CO can be effectively utilized without being discharged outside the system.
