PURPOSE:To obtain a superior low-cost device which has extremely excellent space efficiency by determining the resistance value of a resistor so that respective switches are discriminated on the basis of resistance values between output terminals when respective switches are on. CONSTITUTION:When a switch SW on a keyboard is pressed, which place the pressed switch SW is at is known from the resistance value between the common output terminal of the keyboard and a lateral output terminal X and the resistance value between the common output terminal C and a longitudinal output terminal Y. For example, when a switch SW 43 is pressed, the resistance value between the output terminals C and X is 4R and that between the output terminal C and Y is 3R, so that it is discriminated form resistance values stored in a computer that the pressed switch SW has a column number 4 and a row number 3.
