PURPOSE:To produce significant recording and memory effects by laminating a protective film contg. a proton donor on the color developing layer of a transition metallic oxide formed on a substrate so as to prevent the fading or deterioration of the color developing part as well as to enhance the color developing efficiency. CONSTITUTION:The color developing layer 2 of a transition metallic compound such as WO3 or MoO3 is formed on a substrate 1, and a protective film 3 contg. a proton donor is laminated on the layer 2. The film of a metallic oxide or an org. polymer is used as the protective film 3, and water, an acid or a compound having an OH group are preferably used as the proton donor. When the color developing layer 2 of WO3 or MoO3 is irradiated with the rays of light having energy over the band gap of the compound, the rays of light irradiated part develop blue. This color does not fade away for a long period unless a reverse reaction is carried out thermally, electrolytically or chemically. The protective film 3 laminated on the color developing layer 2 enhances the color developing efficiency of the layer 2, inhibits the fading or deterioration of the layer 2, and improves recording and memory. The resulting material is used as a superior recording material for recording a voice, an image, an electric signal or the like. |
