Aniline derivatives of the formula < IMG > where X is oxygen or sulfur, Y is oxygen, sulfur, -SO- or -SO2, Z is Cl-C4-alkyl, Cl-C4-alkoxy, Cl-C4-haloalkyl, Cl-C4-haloalkoxy or halogen, n is 0, 1, 2 or 3, Z' is hydrogen, halogen, methyl or trifluoromethyl and R is Cl-C5-alkyl, Cl-C4-alkoxy, Cl-C4-alkylthio, unsubstituted or Cl-C4-alkyl-substituted C3-C7-cycloalkyl, di-Cl-C4-alkylamino or N-Cl-C4-alkyl-N-Cl-C4-alkoxyamino, and a process for their manufacture are disclosed. These derivatives are useful for controlling undesirable plant growth.
