PURPOSE:To easily control the thickness of a film formed on a metallic strip by hot dipping by sucking molten metal out of the opening in a nozzle to carry out hot dipping. CONSTITUTION:A metallic strip 1 is traveled in a duct 7 in the direction of arrows through a deflector roll 2. The opening 3 in a nozzle 4 fitted to a molten metal tank 5 contg. molten metal 6 is brought close to the strip 1 after the width of the opening 3 is made equal to the width of the strip 1 to be coated. When the molten metal 6 is fed to the nozzle 4 to form a hot dipping bath in the opening 3, the molten metal 6 is sucked out by the wetting adhesion of he molten metal 6 to the strip 1. The strip 1 is coated with the sucked molten metal, forming a film.
