N-(2-(5-dimethylamino methyl(furan-2-yl methylthio)ethyl)-3pyridine carboxamide 1-oxide of formula (I) and its pharmaceutically acceptable acid addn. salts are newly prepd. by treating 2-(5- dimethylamino methyl furan-2-yl methylthio) ethylamine with a functional deriv. of nicotinic acid 1-oxide in an organic solvent at a temp. between 0≦̸C and the b.pt. of the solvent. Prods. are used as histamine H2 receptor blocking agents.
