PURPOSE:To perform the initial write with a magnetic disc device itself without using a special initial write system by providing an initial write head on a head slider simultaneously with a servo head and a recording and reproducing head. CONSTITUTION:A head slider 2 is placed above a disc 1. A recording signal is supplied to an initial write head 7 from an initial write circuit 5 to write simultaneously plural, for example, the first - the third outermost data tracks DT. The head slider 2 is moved inward by an extent corresponding to one track. The first outermost data track DT out of these three tracks is scanned by a servo head 8 to apply servo. Simultaneously, the recording signal is supplied to a recording and reproducing head 9 from a data write circuit 6, and the fourth outermost data track DT is written by the recording and reproducing head 9. The head slider 2 is moved inward by an extent corresponding to one track again, and the same operation is repeated. |
