PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound from 4-nitrophthalonitrile and a specific mono--diol in high yield, by using a specific <=12C tertiary amine containing neither hetero atoms except nitrogen and ether oxygen nor easily mobile hydrogen as a catalyst. CONSTITUTION:In producing a compound shown by the formula (R is <=20C alkylene, cycloalkylene, aralkylene, or arylene; X is H, OH, 1',2'-dicyano-4'- phenoxy) useful as an intermediate for a (metallic) phthalocyanine derivative (compound for dyestuff, etc.) soluble in solvents by reacting 4-nitrophthalonitrile with an aliphatic, alicyclic, aralkyl or aromatic primary-tertiary mono--diol, <=12C nitrogen-containing aromatic, nitrogen-containing alicyclic or nitrogen- containing aliphatic tertiary amine containing neither hetero atoms except nitrogen and ether oxygen nor easily mobile hydrogen is used as a catalyst, to give the aimed compound in a uniform reaction system under mild temperature condition in a short time, in high yield and in high recovery ratio of unreacted raw materials while suppressing side reactions. |
