PURPOSE:To prevent a waste spark from occurring, by adding or subtracting a first voltage and a second voltage constituting a part of a spark discharge power source, while outputting a spark voltage so as to secure optimum ignition timing, and constituting an ignitor so as to distrinite the spark voltage to plug with noncontact. CONSTITUTION:At the time of engine running, a piston position is detected from output of a crankshaft angle sensor 1 and an ignition timing advance value is determined from each output of a manifold absolute pressure sensor 2 and an engine speed sensor 3 at a central processing unit 8. Next, an ignition signal for inducing high voltage at both first and second power ignition coils 9 and 10 is outputted. For example, when an spark plug 7a is ignited, such an ignition voltage as exceeding the spark voltage of the plug 7a is outputted by the sum of first and second voltage V1 and V2 induced by secondary windings 9b and 10d of each of these coils 9 and 10 at the specified period. On the other hand, at this time, the voltage (V1-V>=2) being less than the spark voltage of a spark plug 7b is outputted to it, thus spark occurrence is checked.
