PURPOSE:To prevent a hydrogen occluding alloy from oxidizing, by constituting a hydrogen occluding electrode with more than one kind of metallic cadminum, cadminum oxide and cadminum hydroxide and the hydrogen occluding alloy, a catalyzer and fluorocarbon resin as a bonding agent plus such resin as being lower in a fusing point than the fluorocarbon resin, while performing heat treatment for it at below the fusing point of the fluorocarbon resin. CONSTITUTION:A hydrogen occluding electrode consisting of more than one kind of metallic cadminum, cadminum oxide, cadminum hydroxide, and a hydrogen occluding alloy, a catalizer, fluorocarbon resin as a bonding agent plus thermoplastic resin being lower in a fusing point than the fluorocarbon resin is processed under heat treatment at temperature below the fusing point in the fluorocarbon resin. For example, an LaNi5 alloy is made into fine powder and used for the hydrogen occluding alloy, while as for the catalizer, such one holding palladium to activated carbon is used. Likewise, the fluorocarbon resin uses polytetrafluoroethylene and polyethylene powder as resin being lower in the fusing point than the fluorocarbon resin. With this constitution, oxygen gas and hydrogen gas to be produced in time of overcharging is ionizable or turnable to water, thus a rise in cell internal pressure and oxidization in the hydrogen occluding alloy are preventable from occurring. |
