The device for coupling an optical waveguide fibre (LWF) to an optical transmitting or receiving element (LED, PD) in a detachable and a re-usable fashion has a mount (EO1) which holds the optical waveguide fibre (LWF) in a capillary tube (KP) and a further mount (EU2, EU3) for the optical transmitting or receiving element (LED, PD). The mount (EO1) for the optical waveguide fibre (LWF) is let into a plate-shaped upper component (OT) and the mount for the optical transmitting or receiving element (LED, PD) is let into a lower component which is also plate-shaped. The upper component (OT) and the lower component (UT) are fixed to one another in a centring but detachable fashion in such a way that they abut one another with their flat sides, a space (IR) for the reception of immersion fluid being provided in the separating plane between the two flat sides. <IMAGE>
