NEW MATERIAL:The 1,3-oxazolin-2-one derivative of formula I (R is n-propyl, n-butyl, pentyl, hexyl, heptyl or octyl; n is 4, 5 or 6) and its acid addition salt. EXAMPLE:(4RS,5RS)-4-hexyl-5-phenyl-3-(3-piperidinopropyl)-1,3-ox-azoli din-2-one. USE:A glutamic acid blocking agent useful as a remedy for the symptoms such as dizziness, shoulder discomfort, spasm, trembling, etc., caused by the imbalance of the nervous system or hypersthenia of muscular pulse and as an agricultural chemical to depress the activity of insects. PREPARATION:The compound of formula I or its acid addition salt can be produced by reacting the compound of formula II with the compound of formula III (Y is halogen or OCCl3) and if necessary, adding an acid to the product.
