Process for purifying nitrogen oxide (NO)-containing flue gases

In a process for purifying nitrogen oxide (NO)-containing flue gases, the NO is oxidised to nitrogen dioxide (NO2) using sodium chlorite (NaClO2) and is then scrubbed out. By this process, high separation efficiencies can be achieved inexpensively, even in the case of scrubbing flue gases which additionally contain HCl, SO2 and HF, without deposits occurring in the scrubber (1, 19) (Fig. 1). <IMAGE>
