PURPOSE:To provide a printing of high reliability, by a method wherein a piezoelectric element is employed for a displacement generating mechanism and also a printing wire is driven with use of a displacement amplification mechanism. CONSTITUTION:When a character or a symbol, etc. is printed, application of voltage on a piezoelectric element 1b leads the piezoelectric element 1b to be abruptly displaced in the direction of the arrow A. At this time, the tip portion of a lever 2b cannot sufficiently follow the response of the piezoelectric clement 1b because of inertia force, which results in previous displacement of only the center portion thereof. As the piezoelectric element 1b is held in extended condition, the strain energy, stored in the lever 2b caused by the spring force, drives a printing wire 5 in the direction of the arrow B by the snap force caused by the strain energy. The printing wire 5 is so forced as to freely fly by the snap force to conduct printing. After printing is completed, the vibration caused from return of the lever 2b is abruptly reduced by the action of a damping member 2c. |
