PURPOSE:To provide the titled apparatus capable of cutting the stalk and root of a bulb, in high efficiency, without necessitating skilled labor, by placing a bulbous vegetable horizontally on a holding device at the upper rear position of the circulating conveyor of a conveyor apparatus, and cutting the stalk and root of the vegetable with a cutter. CONSTITUTION:A bulbous vegetable such as onion T is pushed horizontally into the holding cylinder 10 of the holding device 7 positioned at the upper rear position of the circulating converyor 5, and the stalk Tc and the root Tb are inserted into respective guide grooves 8, 9. The holding cylinder 10 is made to contact slidingly with the holding plate 37 of the cutter-holding apparatus by moving the holding device 7. The stalk Tc and the tip of the root Tb are cut off from the onion T in the course of passing the onion T between the rotary cutters 16, 15 to obtain the onion T' for delivery. The onion T' is removed from the holding cylinder 10 by the centrifugal force and the own weight by the rotation of the holding device and is dropped through the guide 35.
