PURPOSE:To easily fix a sound-absorbing material, by providing ribs in the axial direction in a holed pipe, winding the sound-absorbing material onto said pipe, spirally winding a band consisting of a wire rod from the upper of said sound-absorbing material and connecting said band to the ribs by welding or the like. CONSTITUTION:This absorption type muffler has a holed pipe 1 connected with an exhaust pipe of an internal-combustion engine, and this pipe 1 has ribs 1b, 1b along the axial direction with both end terminals serving as the butt connection surface. The muffler, providing in the periphery of the holed pipe 1 a sound-absorbing material 4 having a fine hole, spirally winds a band 5 consisting of a round wire onto the periphery of said sound-absorbing material 4 while connects on the rib 1b the band 5 together with the sound-absorbing material 4 to be fixed by resistance welding or the like. In this way, the muffler can both improve productivity by decreasing a tightening part of the band 5 and eliminate the generation of looseness of the band 5. |
