PURPOSE:To attain a data communication system with high efficiency and small quantity of resources to connect many simple data communication terminals of a branch type network to a transfer control part of a network architecture containing a flow control function and an answer control function, by regarding virtually plural physical terminals as a single unit. CONSTITUTION:The virtual terminal name, the address information on the physical terminal expected by a function control and the transfer data are exchanged between a function control part 1 and a transfer control part 2. These information and data pass through a logical communication unit control mechanism 2-2 in the part 2 of a standard network architecture without producing any disturbance and are converted into a data format for branch type network by an environment conversion mechanism 2-3. Here the address information on the physical terminal which is transferred with the upper part 1 is used. Then all addresses or a conceivable address on the physical terminals are registered through the mechanism 2-3.
