<p>PURPOSE:To prevent bulking of activated sludge in a short time by adding a specified amt. of water-soluble cationic polymer obtd. by the reaction of dialkylamine with epichlorohydrine basing on the dry solid content of the activated sludge. CONSTITUTION:Almost equimolar amt. of dialkylamine (e.g. diethylamine) is allowed to react with epichlorohydrine at 30-100 deg.C in inert gas atmosphere to obtain water-soluble cationic polymer having >=0.05 intrinsic viscosity (mea sured by dissolving the polymer in 2 mole concn. of aq. KBr). 0.1-25pts.wt., pref. 0.54-10pts.wt. said polymer basing on 100pts.wt. dry solid of activated sludge is added to the activated sludge. By the addition of the polymer, increase of sludge value index is not recognized for >=6 months and the bulking of sludge is prevented distinctly.</p> |
