MAGNETIC RECORDING AND REPRODUCING DEVICE

PURPOSE:To record and reproduce signals on two tapes simultaneously with one deice by providing a rotary cylinder having two magnetic heads and arranging two tapes so that they face each other with the rotary cylinder between them and transmitting and receiving signals between magnetic heads and tapes. CONSTITUTION:When a rotary cylinder 1 is rotated in the direction of an arrow (c) and magnetic tapes 3a and 3b are run in directions of arrows A and B respectively to perform magnetic recording, recording patterns 10a and 10b corresponding to magnetic heads 2a and 2b are obtained. These recording patterns 10a and 10b correspond to a speed vector (z) into which a running speed vector (x) of the magnetic heads 2a or 2b and a feed speed vector (y) of the tape are synthesized. Since magnetic tapes 3a and 3b are arranged symmetrically with respect to the axis of the rotary cylinder 1 concerning their feed directions and rotation directions of heads, recording tapes which have recording patterns inclined in the same direction and are compatible are obtained.
