PURPOSE:To write data on liquid crystal with a laser beam thermally and continuously at a high speed by supplying speed limit values corresponding to position commands of a position control system for speed commands through speed limiters. CONSTITUTION:Speed commands VX and VL of the speed control system of X-axial and Y-axial position controllers 3 and 4 are limited by speed limits VXL and VYL corresponding to X-axial and Y-axial position commands X and Y of a write controller. In this case, when thermal writing is performed on the segment from X and Y coordinates (X0, Y0) to (X5, Y5) on a liquid-crystal panel 5 continuously with the laser beam 6, equations (1) and (2) should hold for the X-axial and Y-axial speed limit values VXL and VYL. The thermal write trace on the liquid-crystal panel 5 is made continuously on the segment from X and Y coordinates (X0, Y0) to (X5, Y5) according to X-axial and Y-axial coordinates (X0, Y0) to (X5, Y5) of equations (3) and (4). Consequently, a liquid- crystal image is performed at a high speed and great performance improvement is expected.
