PURPOSE:To provide a wire cooler which provides substantial cooling power while preventing the leakage of a coolant by constituting the cooler in such a manner that the coolant is forcibly introduced into the cooler from the inlet side in the direction crossing with the cooler from the inlet side in the direction crossing with the traveling locus of the wire entering the cooler from below in the approximately vertical direction. CONSTITUTION:The wire W is run from below to above and at the same time the mist-like coolant L is introduced 14 into the diametrally expanding part of a cylindrical body 1 and is passed in the spacing between the inside wall of the diametrally expanded part of the cylindrical body 1 and the small diameter part 19 of an introducing guide 14 while the coolant is forced to swirl therein. The coolant L is admitted into the body part of the cylindrical body 1 while such swirling stage is maintained. The space 2 is gradually narrowed until the coolant contacts with the traveling wire W and after the wire is cooled, the coolant is scattered from the upper part of the body 1. The scattered coolant L is gathered by a scattering preventive cover 9 and is discharged through a drain discharge pipe 11 to the outside of the system. |
