PURPOSE:To control back washing automatically by providing an inlet port of liquid to the top end of an adsorption packed tower, and a settling tank to the bottom of the tower, further providing a feeding port of the treating liquid provided with a pressure gauge and a valve and an auxiliary outlet for the liquid provided with a valve to the top of the settling tank. CONSTITUTION:Liquid to be treated contg. fine precipitate is introduced with low speed into a settling tank 15 at the bottom of an adsorption packed tower 10, flows upward from the bottom of the adsorption packed tower 10 and flows out of an outlet 14. Major part of the fine precipitate in the liquid is flocculated in the settling tank 15 and settled and accumulated in the bottom. The rest is adsorbed by the adsorbent 12 and discharged from the outlet 14 of the liquid. The clogging of the adsorbent 12 is sensed by a pressure gauge 18, then the feed of the liquid is interrupted automatically and the auxiliary outlet of the liquid is opened. By this constitution, the supernatant of the settling tank 15 is discharged, and the liquid in the adsorption packed tower 10 is flowed back, the adsorbent is regenerated and reused for adsorption filtration again.
