PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of azimuth and the reduction of output by arranging a guide material, which is used as the guide for movement of a carriage to which a magnetic head is set, near a line extended from a gap position for magnetic head recording and reproducing in the direction of the revolving shaft of a medium. CONSTITUTION:A slide part of the guide material where the carriage is slided is arranged near the line extended from the gap position for magnetic head recording and reproducing in the direction of the revolving shaft of a disc. Though coefficients of expansion of the carriage 2 and a chassis are different from each other, the relative position of a gap for magnetic head recording and reproducing to the chassis in the direction perpendicular to the normal of a rotation center 6 is hardly changed by the variance of temperature. Since it is necessary that the reduction of output by azimuth is <=0.5%, it is necessary that (n) is smaller than 0.235R when the track width is >=165mum and the line recording density is >=70kBPI.
