PURPOSE:To detect a full closure position with high precision at any time by comparing the current opening extent value of a throttle valve with its minimum opening extent value which is stored previously, and judging that the valve is fully closed when the difference is less than a specific value. CONSTITUTION:The opening extent value of the throttle valve 13 is converted into an electric signal by a potentiometer 14 coupled directly with a throttle shaft 11. A voltage signal indicating its opening extent is digitized by an A-D converter 15 and inputted to an arithmetic part 16. The arithmetic part 16 compares said opening extent voltage to the minimum opening extent value (reference value) of the throttle valve 13 which is stored in a storage part 17 up to the current point and judges that the valve is fully closed when the differ ence is less than the specific value, thereby controlling the injection amount of fuel, etc., through a control circuit 18. The value in the storage part 17 is updated according to variation in the minimum value. Consequently, the full closure position is detected with high precision at any time.
