PURPOSE:To prolong the life of cut flowers, by dipping cut ends of the cut flowers in water containing (E)-1-(p-chlorophenyl)-4,4-dimethyl-2-(1,2,4- triazol-1- yl)-1-penten-3-ol. CONSTITUTION:Cut ends of cut flowers are dipped in water containing 1-2,500ppm (E)-1-(p-chlorophenyl)-4,4-dimethyl-2-(1,2,4-triazol-l-yl)-1-penten-3-ol (uniconazole) to preserve the cut flowers for a long period. The water containing the uniconazole is obtained by mixing the above-mentioned compound with a solid carrier, e.g. kaolin clay or diatomaceous earth, liquid carrier, e.g. cyclohexanone, surfactant, e.g. carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC), or another adju vant to give an emulsion, wettable powder, flowable formulation or aqueous solution, etc., and diluting the resultant formulation with water. The dipping time is optional ranging from a moment to a period for admiration, etc.
