PURPOSE:To remove efficiently cationic org. material from liquid contg. the cationic org. material by bringing the waste liquid into contact with a cation exchanger. CONSTITUTION:The waste liquid contg. the org. material (e.g., trimethyl benzyl ammonium chloride) is brought into contact with cation exchanger such as perfluorocarbon cation exchanger. More specifically, the cation exchanger makes extremely quickly and powerfully ion exchange with the cationic org. material and therefore the cationic org. material can be efficiently removed from the waste liquid contg. the cationic org. material. Since the cationic org. material is removed by adsorption, the waste water is not contaminated even if the exchanger is added at an excessive ratio and moreover the efficient removal of the cationic org. material from the waste liquid contg. the cationic org. material at a low concn. is made possible. The cationic exchanger after the adsorption of the cationic org. material contains the cationic org. material thickened to a high concn. and therefore the efficiency of regeneration by an oxidizing agent, etc., is good.
