A hologram device for security or identification purposes is made from a plurality of transparencies (Figure 1) so as to display a complex three-dimensional image. The holographic image is embossed into thermoplastic ink printed on a plastics sheet, and the resultant embossed sheet is metallised and then partially de-metallised. The hologram device is used as a bridging seal (Figure 9) across two surfaces (74), such as a video cassette box. Any attempt to tamper with or copy the hologram damages the embossed thermoplastic ink layer which is weaker than the plastics sheet. <IMAGE> |
