PURPOSE:To machine the surface of ceramic member into smooth face with required accuracy by forming a metal film onto the surface of ceramic chips to be machined then machining the surface of said metal film flatly. CONSTITUTION:A metal film of sufficient thickness for smoothing the rough surface of ceramic chip to be machined is formed onto the surface then said metal film is grinded or cut to produce a flat surface of required accuracy. For example, a metal film 1b is formed onto the surface of rectangular ceramic pole 1a then said metal film 1b is grinded or cut with required accuracy to produced smooth surface. In other word, at least one kind of metal selected from Fe, Cu, Ni, NiP, NiB, etc. is deposited, spattered, thermally sprayed or electrolytically galvanized to form a metal film is grinded with required accuracy.
