PURPOSE:To effectively utilize the floor space of a factory by disposing an auxiliary table on the workpiece table of a milling machine for small workpieces to permit the machining of long size parts without installing the same kind of machines of different sizes. CONSTITUTION:A saddle 2 and a workpiece table 3 are disposed on a bed 1 and further an auxiliary table 10 is disposed on the workpiece table 3. When a long size workpiece is machined, a workpiece placing table 11 is fixed at a required location, for example, at a stroke end on one side for machining, and after the machining, the workpiece placing table 11 is displaced to another location for machining the remaining portion of the workpiece in the same manner as the preceding machining, thus permitting a small size milling machine to perform the milling of a long size workpiece and eliminating the need for installing a plurality of the same kind of machines with different sizes. When a small size part is machined, a workpiece is directly fixed on the workpiece table 3 for being subjected to a usual machining without employing the auxiliary table 10. |
