PURPOSE:To improve the mechanical strength of a coating body of an optical tape cable and to prevent the side pressure to optical fiber cores by using high- density PE contg. potassium titanate to form the sheath of said coating body and providing an aluminum layer on the inside circumferential surface side thereof. CONSTITUTION:The optical tape cable is provided with the coating body 4 and plural optical tapes 3 consisting of the optical fiber cores 2 disposed at equal intervals and insulating layers 5 are laminated in the body 4. The body 4 consists of the sheath part 4A and the aluminum layer 4B positioned on the inside circumferential surface side thereof. The high-density PE (HDPE) contg., for example, potassium hexatitanate (K2O.6TiO2) fiber in a 10-40wt% range, for example, 30wt% is used for the sheath 4A. The body 4 has an excellent bending-shrinkage characteristic and heating-shrinkage characteristic. The tapes 3 are hardly bent even if the body 4 is subjected to bending or heating. The side pressure onto the optical fiber cores is thus effectively prevented.
