PURPOSE:To recover an intermittent trouble of an input/output attachment at a high speed by keeping the contents of a prescribed program area of a memory device and initializing only a prescribed part of the input/output attachment. CONSTITUTION:A central processor 1 is connected to a channel device 3, and a printer 5, an auxiliary memory 6 and an input/output device for a communication circuit 7, etc. are connected to the device 3 via an input/output attachment 4. Then the device 3 receives a specific command from the processor 1 and initializes only a prescribed part of the attachment 4. In this case, the contents of a prescribed program area of a memory 11 of the attachment 4 are preserved.
